3 and T-mobile form Europe’s largest HSPDA mobile network

Both 3 and T-mobile have struggled to compete with the big guns of O2 and Vodafone. 3 in particular has found it difficult to gain a large market share due to consumer concerns about its coverage. So it’s no surprise to hear that T-mobile and 3 and going to join forces in an attempt to increase their coverage without increasing their costs. They plan to merge their network, effectively filling gaps in their coverage. It is claimed that the deal will save both companies about £1 billion due to the fact they no longer have to set-up and install costly mobile phone masts in lots of new areas.

By joining forces they hope to massively increase their coverage, reduce costs and give them a fighting chance against the likes of Vodafone and O2. The deal means that 3 and T-mobile now have the Europe’s largest HSDPA network.

The two companies will continue to operate independently with neither owning the other; in fact they will still be fierce rivals. They will only be sharing their 3G networks.

250 Million 3G VoIP Users by 2012, According to New Research

The first full VoIP mobile phone (3SkypePhone) has only just been launched but already a professional research agency is forecasting that there will be 250 million users of 3G VoIP by 2012, compared with less than 100 million for voice on Wi-Fi. Considering how new VoIP on 3G is it strange to think that it will be more popular than VoIP via Wi-Fi. (more…)

Google Phone Going to be 3G?

The Google Phone (gPhone) is the most hotly awaited mobile phone since, well… the iPhone, which is going to be released in the UK on the 9th Nov 2007. Every other week a new “leaked” story comes about the Google phone sayingthat is will be released within the next two weeks. All of these stories have been wrong, but now the sources are getting better and Google’s share price went up by over $3 billion following the latest “leaked” story in the Wall Street Journal. The stylish Samsung G600 is one of the hottest handset of 2007. It has almost everything, a 5 Mega-pixel, a super slim form (its the slimmest 5 mp camera phone in the UK), autofocus, xenon flash, mp3 player, FM radio, but sadly it’s only 2.5g. Well there is no need to be sad anymore, Samsung are planning to launch a 3g version of the G600, it will be called the Samsung G800.

Mobile broadband to be number 1 by 2011

Amazing by 2011 more people are expected to use Mobile broadband than fixed line. Informa Telecoms & Media, a UK based research company carried out the research, which indicates there will be more than one billion broadband subscribers worldwide in 2011, with the majority using mobile rather than fixed systems.

Skype to Sell First Mobile Phone Through 3
