3SkypePhone Launches on 2 November 2007 (First Mobile Skype Phone)

The first truly mobile Skype phone will be launched on the UK 3 network on the 2nd November 2007, see phone picture above. The new mobile phone offers free calls to Skype’s 246 million registered customers around the world, plus all calls to other 3Skypephones will be free at anytime too.

The 3Skypephone comes in 3 great colours and will be available on Pay Monthly and Pay As You Go just in time for the Christmas season. The 3Skypephone is a fairly basic 3g handset, features include: 2 Megapixel camera, Photo editing and effects function, Video capture, MP3 player, and Inbuilt equalizer which enhances reproduction delivering great bass.

It’s easy to access Skype on the phone, customers can just log into their Skype account like they would on a PC or create one quickly. If a user is already registered with Skype all their contacts will appear on screen, so they can check their status and decide whether they want to call or instant message their friends.

It is though that the new phone will be avialable in all the countries in which 3 operations, UK, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Austria, Denmark, Italy, Ireland, and Sweden, but launched dates for these countries are unknown.

The Om Malik from Gigaom.com thinks Three are launching the 3Skypephone on the 29th Oct in London, press invite are currently being sent out.
